    Default Lake Manitouwabing

I’m back from a trip to Glenwood Resort on lake manitouwabing near Parry Sound. My entire family all booked some cabins for last week. We had amazing weather for our stay, mainly sunny and warm. Firstly I’d like to state that this was not just a fishing trip it was a family getaway. As far as family friendly resorts go, this place was awesome. The beach area was great. They had canoes, kayaks and pedal boats for free use. The cabins were very clean and modern. The only thing that could be improved was the charcoal bbq’d.

The fishing wasn’t bad. The kids casted off the docks and managed to get into some pike and bass. It definitely kept them busy. I got a chance to test out my new sonar, a Humminbird Helix 5. It worked great, definitely an upgrade from the lowrance system that came with the boat.

The lake is made up of many arms and is full of rocks. You would think that most rocks would be very well marked and you’d be wrong. The entire shoreline is made up of grandiose cottages, so the budget was blown to get a few empty javex bottles. Thank goodness for the navionics card.

My brother, dad and I fished pretty hard every night after supper. We managed many pike but the walleye eluded us. My brother even brought up his fly rod and fished from the boat with it. He managed a few snot rockets on streamers. The only walleye that made it in the boat was caught at high noon in 8 fow on a fire tiger rapala (one of the kids got it).

If you’re ever looking for a family friendly place to relax and do some fishing check this place out.

Warm enough for the kids to be swimming comfortably. I don’t recall what the sonar measured.

Many won't do that for a good reason.
Why risk a law suit if you miss one.
And they also have no obligation to do so.
