    Default Nest

On my last day of turkey hunting woke up extra early and nearly got the hell scared out of me...didn't flush until I was 1-2 feet away
My only action of the day unfortunately
Oh well...always next year for gobble gobble

Looks like it is time to shorten the season.

A few years back on the last day of the season saw a hen with chicks already still wobbly so maybe only a few days old.
Don't think the season helps or hinders the nesting birds.

Not much chance of that nest surviving. She was obviously a young hen and has no idea where to build her nest. Coons, skunks, possums and or coyotes will clean them up pretty quick.

I could be mistaken but those eggs and the size of the nest look too large to be a grouse... Either way it's a truly neat photo...

first impression thought was turkey was going to move thread over to turkey forum but figured might as well confirm (maybe bit of wishful thinking as would be delighted if it where grouse)

shortening season would have nothing to do with hens anyway. They start laying eggs a long time before season ends and since you can't shoot hens it effects nothing. For what kind of eggs I would think not turkey as their eggs are a good size and to get 12 in that nest would be tough, unless the tree in the background is 4ft in diameter,
