Boat arch supports

Where to get or how to make wood arch supports for my vinyl boat cover. One of mine twisted and broke under heavy rain last year. I’ve tried soaking and bending some softwood strapping but didn’t work out.

My brother made his for a 14' tinny out of some hardwood flooring strips cut to size.

I used 3/8 plywood a while ago.

That's what I've used for the past 4 seasons to "tent" the cover over the boat when it's parked in the driveway. I also like to use it for draping camo netting over for duck hunting. The stuff works like a charm,easy to handle and very light.

I just ripped some clear ash to length and width.
Seems to be holding up well for the past few years.
They fit into those little steel fixtures that rivet to the gunnels.

Do you use it in the winter also ? I used to have a wood frame that I screwed together to make a high “tent” over the boat, strong enough to handle the snow load, but was thinking maybe I’d go with some ABS this year, just haven’t worked out all the fittings

Sure,but,it won't withstand a lot of heavy snow load. Just don't let the snow get too deep on the cover.
