Commanda Lake
Has anyone ever fished Commanda Lake? We rented a private cottage there for July 8 and just found out the boat launch is 5,5 miles from the cottage. Just wondering how rough the lake can get, thanks

My buddies rent there every year. They both have 14 foot tillers and have never had a problem. Barring storm conditions, I think you will be good. They do well for numbers of pike, but the size is pretty moderate.

Small lake mostly less than 1/2 mile wide and 4 miles long. Rough water is unusual.
Whoever told you 5.5 miles from launch is blowing smoke (maybe they meant km) as it is not possible to get that far away by water from any point on the shore. Lake just isn't that big.
Fishing is fine with pike, bass and walleye all present. Better fishing on nearby Restoule, Stormy and Clear Lakes
If you want off the beaten track you can 4WD via Sand Lake Road into a few back lakes. Launches are pretty rough and pretty tight but manageable with 4WD. No 4WD than you can typically get down the road in 2WD if you have some claerance and launch a canoe or kayak.
The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

x 3... been up there for 30 years. We'll be there for a week or so in July, August, September and October. You will be fine in a 14 footer on Commanda for sure.
