    Hi folks,

    New hunter here and looking for some tips on some public land in the east that a few buddies and I can hunt Grouse on.

    Public land atlas, cover that you can't walk in without getting your hat ripped off and a stick in the eye and trees that you can put two hands around. Think poplars and coniferous tree jungle with some oaks scattered around.

    Ottawa area, welcome to the group.

    You have to find public lands, but that does not mean Crown. Crown is land owned by the Queen that we can all use, from here you are looking at about an hour drive west to find Crown land. For public lands look up the Marlborough forest, Larose forest and Limerick Forest, those are public lands around Ottawa, please verify if, where and when you can hunt on them though, I am not up to date with any new regulations.

    Here is a map of Larose forest with a legend of places you can hunt in Prescott and Russell. I talk to the administrators of those lands (hunting) and they told me to follow this map.
