Looks quite Old, maybe time to upgrade to a new one. Looks like that was made before I was born.

Oh! That would hurt. Nice collector.
Worst case scenario just drill and counter sink screw underneath base and through shaft and use a bit of epoxy where crack then leave it on a shelf.

Agreed-adding what DeerHunter suggested-a screw thru(just to distribute the stresss)with JB weld will bring it back to usable life.
Any machine shop or handy guy with proper tools can drill and tap thru .

Thanks guys. I had the rod and reel on a tree branch to keep it out of the way of a young Lab, and the wind moved the branch. Down on the rocks it fell.

Those old Swede Cardinals were/are outstanding reels. I have one gray one like yours and a 3 and 4 in the old green. I’ve yet to handle any modern reel that matches the quality. Drags are fantastic.

Right on Fenelon! I have a collection and that's all I use. Both 3's and 4's. I've upgraded the spools to aluminum and will be passing these on to the kids and grand kids.

The old one’s were great for sure but I like my newer Abu Garcia Cardinal 501 with the wood handle, nice smooth reel.
