Goose season fast approaching
[COLOR=#000000]Goose seasons fast approaching what's everyone seeing.
Going to get out tomorrow or Monday for a look around but thinking birds aren't moving yet.
Hoping to find something for Thursday and friday.

So got out for a look around this morning. Plan was to drive until I find something for Thursday. Loop planned was a drive up the east side of Simcoe over to Barrie than across to shelburne down to the west side of Orangeville than home hitting the old haunts till I find a spot. Well the east side looked meager as most of the fields are corn and soy and the few grain fields already chiesled. A few birds seen with a small flock on the south side of Brechin. Needless to say a little disappointed but had to press on. Checked in at Barrie and found a couple of barley fields that quite honestly have me bit worried as there is so much grain in the field that it looks baited. As I was studing the field something caught my eye on the neighbours property. Went for a look and found them.

Drove back to the first place to see if the farmer could put in a good word for me with his neighbour. Hope I don't jinx myself but Thursday gonna be interesting.
Thing is this field looks like it was harvested with a vacuum with hardly a blade of grass to hide behind.
Can never figure out geese nothing in a field carpeted with grain yet the mother load on a manicured plot.

Seems that's always the way. Once they're comfortable putting in at a particular field they'll keep doing it until there's bird's or decoys in another.... There's a ton of geese in the Scugog area, and I mean a lot.... Best of luck...

Seems like you're not the only one. Couldn't secure premission on the X amd could only seduce one into the spread yesturday (didn't convert it though), Geese not flying much and even less today. On the up side was entertained with flock after flock of ducks. Haven't heard a shot both mornings don't know if its because nobody else is out or birds just sitting still with this heat.
Some video from yesturdays hunt, nothing from today as it was even quiter.

I was fishin' yesterday PM on Rice Lake. About an hour before sunset, flock after flock of Canada Geese started dropping into the inlets and small bays where wild rice is growing. It was a wonder to behold because I've never seen so many land all at once. To me,it indicates we're about to have a fantastic waterfowl season.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....
