Ask a CO: Do I need to wear a blaze orange helmet while riding an ATV during hunting season?

Ask a CO takes Ontario OUT of DOORS readers’ questions and utilizes the knowledge of Conservation Officers to find the answers.

What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

Yes, interesting.

Has there been an amendment to the Highway Traffic Act requiring ATV riders to wear blaze orange helmets? This answer makes no sense, whatsoever.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Think this is a situation where regulations collide. Atv riders must where helmet, Hunters must have hunter orange head covering. Answer is what do you do if you're in the middle of the Venn Diagram

Right.but you can't hunt from motorized vehicle so put your orange hat on after you get off your ATV

You most certainly can hunt from a MV. You just can’t shoot or have a loaded FA.

The way I read it is you can have a hunter orange baseball cap under your black helmet and your good to get off ATV and shoot on game.

You could do that, but, then you can be charged with failing to properly wear a helmet. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. To me,when you're riding an ATV,you're not hunting and you don't need a hunter orange head cover until you dismount and load a firearm. Then, that's when you're hunting and require a hunter orange cover. For me,getting a ticket for any one of those, guaranteed, will be going to court.
