Shelter-Logic width ?

Fellas,

I’m considering buying one of these units to store my boat under. I fully understand that the fabric is only likely good for 3-4 years but I think it’s a good solution for me right now…

I was about to purchase the round top version a few weeks ago but found out that at shoulder height, the width tapers down to 91” and my boat is 90” beam…

I am wondering if anyone on here has the peaked model and can measure theirs for me ?

I just bought the 10 x 20 that was on special at CTC for 50% off.
Will also be storing the 16’ boat.
It rained too much last weekend to install, maybe this weekend.
I was thinking of removing tarp during summer?

funny just went with the round top this year. got the extend one 24ft on sale last Dec. for the 17 ft Legend and fits with little room to spare.
Went with the round top this time around hoping snow load will be less of an issue as the peaked ones don't shed snow at all. As for the fabric lucked into a tornato damaged hay barn that the cover was being replaced. Farmer said take what you want for free. Took a little MacGyvering but been going strong for some 10 years now.

Lots of people around here use them for winter parking only, and remove the covers (and sometimes disassemble frames) around the beginning of May, and put everything back together in November. Personally, I just bought a 12x24 domed shelter from CTC this spring at half price, and have it up for year round storage. I purchased silver tarps to cover the top and southern end in the hope of extending the life of the original cover. Much cheaper to replace a regular tarp.

As big as you can afford and place. Once the tarp degrades don't throw it out, find some old barn tin and cover it.

I was thinking the same thing about using a secondary tarp on top. I plan on leaving mine up year round to keep the sun off the more expensive travel cover that I will have made in the spring. Keeps bird droppings etc off too, as we store the travel cover in my pickup cab while boating

That’s a good idea, might give that a try, maybe the grey HD

Here are some shots of my 12 x 24 shelter. I got a couple of the silver HD tarps when they were on sale to cover the original tarp in hopes of prolonging its life. The end that opens faces north, so it doesn't get the UV rays the other sides do. The big tarp was a 20 x 30, which gave me a few feet on each end to fold and tuck it into the frame. I used 1 x 2 strapping and HD bungee cord to secure it around the base, so it has some give when the wind gets whipping. The tarp on the back end was a 12 x 14, and I was able to tuck it in around the frame as well, and there was enough length that I could secure it to the 2 x 6 PT base that the frame is secured to. Another thing I did was get some cheap pool noodles to place around the frame, particularing where there are bolts and brackets, in an effort to minimize chafing the original cover. Hopefully these ideas work as intended.

That looks great. Good idea with the noodles. I was thinking of getting a grey tarp also.
People tell me the problem with summer it gets so hot it stretches the tarp. Then in the winter it sags and the snow doesn’t slide anymore then it collapses if you don’t clean it off? I’m not too worried if the boat is out all summer so will see.
It looks nice Saturday so might tackle it.
