    Default Dove Hunters - Tips/Advice

    Hello Everyone,

I just recently decided to try out some Dove Hunting since its the only thing I really have left to hunt in my area (greenhouses buying all the land I grew up hunting).

I went out the other day and got 7, but I was wondering if anyone can give me advice/tips to get them to fly over. I'm hunting orchards that have some large sections free of trees, there are hydro lines at the front and back of the property. The other day I just drove around flushing them off the hydro lines then just went into the orchards to flush/shoot off trees.

There are 100's of doves in the area, its all farm fields and orchards. Wondering if I should get some decoys if that would help? Sit inside a tree row beside the open areas and put decoys out/calling?

    Any tips would be awesome.

Not convinced decoys make a difference however they do work well for pigeons.
So grab your steele and have at it.

Love hunting doves, but never got SEVEN of them since they opened the hunting season in Ontario!
You are doing great already if you ask me, but I have seen videos where they had multiple shooters just sitting on buckets waiting for them to fly over, so perhaps get a friend to go with you and position yourselves far from one another.
Decoys have never helped me for doves either, but out of desperation, I do use them IF I ever find the TIME to go after delicious doves.

Get a spinner dove decoy -- game changer!

    They'll decoy all day long.

yeah 7 is better than I have done in a day. I have a friend that gets limits though and he use decoys, but I think location has a lot to do with it. I have a spinner and a flapper and some stationary decoys, but haven't found a place to use them yet.

Spinner decoy set up in cut wheat or second cut corn, morning’s or late afternoon. Also spinner set up on edge of pond vegetative free shore line in evenings.
