Sort of but not really. I have a family friend who is a butcher. He does most of it while I fill the role of helper

Cubs I was watching this year ranged from 25 to 50 lbs. In the spring (May and June) I have seen some that were no bigger than house cats

Great story and ending. Don't you love it when a plan comes together...
I got up to the camp Friday afternoon, what a glorious day. Sat, did the duck hunt thing, managed two birds through the fog. Packed up when It cleared and loaded up the dogs and went to check out the bear bait and see if I could get a start. I got to within 200 yds of the bait and my lead dog opened up. I let him down off the rack and it took him about 2 minutes before he opened up and had it lined out. I dropped the other dog down and the chase was on. About a half hr later they had it treed, About 125 lb bore. Walked in leashed the dogs up and headed back to the camp before noon. Turned out to be a beautiful fall day...
Again Joe, well done all around...

Nice job! Sounds like lots of action to keep you awake. Too bad about the big guy, I'm sure he'll be bigger next year.

Thanks man. Shot that muzzle loader of yours a few times but still have not hunted with it LOL. Actually it's a good thing - all my tags have been filled by the time ML season roles around. I guess at the ranges i hunt bears i should roll it out for the bear hunt. Just have to set aside my affection for the Whelen and my 308. Love those two rifles.
Good luck to you as well. Small chance we will cross paths again at Luther.
