I shoot at my daughters house. She is in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors. I can take my time and I don't have to worry about the range police coming down on me or membership dues... lol

I usually sight in on the farm we go to. But it would be nice to have a local range to go to. Guess not. Just seems very counter intuitive to have all these ranges where most people who own a firearm cant even go into shoot. Whenever something happens on the news everyone says its not the legal gun owners fault, so I wouldn't see a issue if they're a legal gun owner. Just my 2 cents I guess.

Having been a member at 4 clubs across ON, ( Galt, DNPAHA, Barrie, and Stittsville), I'll weigh in on the following.
The threshold for obtaining a PAL and maintaining one is very low. All one has to do is cruise over to sites like CGN and see some of the shining examples of intelligence and lack of care.
The same "legal gun owners" you're referring to, are the ones that find themselves out on Crown Land spots for a day of shooting, and literally leave mountains of debris and garbage. Every club I've been to has similar stories of having guests, or even members participating in a bunch of h4t behavior which in the case of a club, can get them sanctioned, or shut down by the CFO....so clubs tend to err on the side of caution. Which is understandable, your frustration notwithstanding.
"Camo" is perfectly acceptable as a favorite colour.

Fair enough and I understand that totally, its just a little weird that its harder to get into a gun range than it is to get your gun licence I guess.

Being in possession of a PAL, does not necessarily mean that you are a good shooter, conscientious, or responsible. It just means that you pass the base level of threshold to obtain that license.
Just the same as having a driver's license does not make you a good driver, conscientious, or free of infractions.

The member process seems very time consuming and long and you still aren't garenteed on becoming one once you go through the process either. I guess my question is if anyone knows of one where you dont need to be a member?
The only one I found was down in Brantford and their range is very small. Maybe 25-50 yards max. Only place I was able to find that let me come in on the spot pay for a lane and let me shoot my own gun with my own ammo .
If anyone has any info on a range that will let me do the same id love to hear about it.
Thanks!

Are you referring to Urban Tactical in Brantford. I have been there and had a good time. I went during the week and there was plenty of lanes opens. I don't think they take walk ins on weekends and I stayed longer then the time I payed for and no one bothered me. I found everyone nice and organized. Not sure how far you require to range your guns but them letting in walk-ins is a bonus. Know bird shot only slugs if bringing in a shotgun.

Not exactly true for 95% of the province. Just your part. I live between London and Kitchener and I can think of 6 or 7 clubs with in an hour drive of my house that I could sight in a rifle. Dozens more parcels of private land I could do the same.

But do you need to be a member to go sight in your rifle? Or can you walk in and use a lane?

Yes thats the place I went to, great people and I had a great experience but it was a very far drive for me and the lanes were short.
