Any Deer Archery Opener Success?
Yesterday the archery season for deer opened in a significant portion of the province. Anyone have opening day success?
No pics but I harvested a young 5 point buck about 170 lbs at 7:30 AM with my crossbow. Walked 10 yards, front legs went out from under him and that was it. I was thankful for him that he passed quickly and thankful for me it was a quick recovery. Spent the rest of the day butchering, processing, making bone broth etc. Feels good to have meat in the freezer.

Wow congrats! We go for the controlled hunt first and if we don't fill our tags then we go for bow

Nice congrats
Tonight Had 4 doe two fawn and a 8 point 80 yd tho buck is a proud one he make a mistake yet
And a really pretty fox

80 yards, ugh! Must have been exciting to watch though!
I actually had a chance at a second young buck about the same size the same morning (my wife has a tag and was in a different location). He hung around after I shot the first one as I stayed very quiet. I was in a ground blind so I was able to reload. It was a very narrow shooting lane between 2 trees and I could only guess the distance of 30 to 40 yards. I had my finger on the trigger trying to decide which marker in the scope to use and he walked away. Never presented another shot. Just didn't feel right (maybe I was too chicken to take the risk or maybe it was a good decision LOL, either way he is still alive and I'm still getting pictures of him).

I was out on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but I didn't see any deer. I saw a beautiful red fox and a nice red-tailed hawk. The leaves in the Lanark Highlands were very nice, especially Sunday morning.
Congratulations on the deer. Meat in the freezer makes the rest of the season more enjoyable, if you have another tag, that is!

Congrats on the deer!
Unfortunately my first sit will not be until Oct 15th or 16th. Too many loose ends to wrap up until then. 
Lots of time and I'm down to a few steaks from last season so I'm not panicking yet... lol
