Grouse Question
I was out scouting a new property with the dog (untrained) the other day and flushed 11 grouse in about a two acre area. Went back today without the dog and didnt flush one. Did I bump them out of the area or do I need the dog with me?

Could they have been the same birds just being flushed back and forth?
I’m sure the dog spooked them as much as your walking through the bush. They were there for a reason on the day you saw them. Make note of the location and the weather. Figure out why they were there. Then hit it again when the conditions are similar.

Totally agree, weather, time of day, time of year. Take note.
I've flushed up to 7 in a very small area in very specific conditions without a dog before.

To best answer this question would have to see the property personally. Where abouts is it?

We all need to assess this property to see if it is as good as reported!

I have flushed lots of birds in a spot and other days nothing. I think it is part of the hunting mystery that keeps me going wondering what each day will bring. I rarely find the same thing happens as the last.
