    Default La Rose forest

Has anybody been to La Rose Forest before ? I have a map of where is allowed to hunt but i yet still am having complications reading the map, but im sure i will figure it out.

I am just wondering if its worth going out to La Rose forest for small game , not sure if theres waterfowl there, but at least grouse. Lately i have been going out to alot of spots i see on crown land atlas andb8 out of 10 times these " public land " all of a sudden they private land, its so frustrating so i thought i would try something in the city-ish.. so will be heading to Malbrough since its very close to my place i was told apparently theres good waterfowl there and maybe grouse, but also apparently La Rose has good grouse hunt.

Would it be to much if i asked experience hunters if its worth going out to La Rose.. im kinda losing my mojo with all these trips and no success, i think i am gonna have to find the courage to go up to a farmers door step and ask for permission to hunt on private land!

Of the two forests, Marlborough would be my choice for small game. It is worth a trip to Larose, but a lot of that forest is just evergreen plantation, which is not too useful from a hunting perspective. Also, there are sections of that forest that are not open to hunting, so you have to be a bit careful where you go. There is game there, but it will take a while to figure out exactly where.
Marlborough has good access, and if it is close to your home, I would definitely suggest you start there.

Larose is more of a plantation built on sand just not the right mix of tree's and shrubs.

After deer season I will be doing some rabbit hunting in Marlborough. Don't think I am going to get out for ducks or geese this year.

A bunch of us from the Ottawa are get together for breakfast occasionally and your welcome to join just let me know on the thread before the Oct 22nd which is when I will book a table breakfast is planned for Oct 29 around 10:30 AM, see the link to the thread below.

How well do you know the malbrough forest ? There's a pond just off of Steven Roger's road I'm trying to check out but not sure how deep the water is, I wonder if I need a canoe or if I wore waders and walked in should be good enough
