Default anyone using noise makers ?

By which I mean bleeds, grunts or rattles? I usually scale it back to just a few bleats now.. rattling stops, maybe a grunt.

Heading out for first time this season on Sat/Sun

    can't wait

    Good luck to all

I bought a bleat can when it was on sale real cheap (I don't use it), I have a snort/wheeze call that I would only use in response to a deers' snort/wheeze first if I was making a bit of leaf/twig noise while moving, and I have a grunt tube that I might use as soon as I get settled in the tree stand in case a nearby deer had heard me moving in. I actually drew my first archery buck across a watershed to within bow range with the grunt tube, so they can have their place. I don't rattle, might try it in future if I get a pair of antlers off a road kill or something, but I'm for stealth so making a racket goes against my grain and I think it depends on the deer population and doe/buck ratio as to its effectiveness.

Rattling can work in the right circumstances, but it can also create empty woods, its a risk to be calculated as part of the strategy. Grunt tubes are low impact and dont seem to scare deer away, snort wheeze will send deer running away in my experience.

If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Opening morning I used my foxpro to rattle, grunt and do doe bleats every once in a while.... During one of the rattling sessions I had a nice buck (Wednesday deer) show up looking for a fight. He came within 20 yds of me. He was bigger then the one I shot Saturday morning. So right time, right place, calling does work.
