Default can't get 'em sitting on the couch

So weather forecast had a small window of dry weather this morning. Thought I'd chance a quick hunt as I've yet to scratch down a bird. Grabbed a dozen goose,a dozen duck decoys and couple of spinners to try and squeeze out a hunt before the heavier rain started. Got the decoys set and a light rain started to fall, continued till just after legal than petered out to a light drizzle and finally stopped. First bird into the spread was a duck that dropped in so hard it did a somersault on landing. bird righted itself up and took off with me stunned to the point didn't even lift the gun. Next a trio of ducks swung over the decoys the shotgun barked twice and 2 hit the ground. Shortly a goose swung in and dropped it clean. it was followed by a pair and clipped those too. Feeling bit cocky at a 5 for 5 outing should of known hubris would catch up. the bigger flocks where destined 1 field over and things went quiet for a bit till a flock of about 20 ducks worked the decoys. Rolled one with the first shot however the next 2 only seemed to clip the second bird. Watching the second bird to see if it would drop, to no avail, lost track of the first. Searched for 20 mintues up and down the stubble field but couldn't find it. Started to drizzle by 9:30 so started to pack up. Got things cleaned up and out of the field by 10:00 just in time as the clouds opened up then.

The rain was steady all night and morning up north. Lucky you had that window. Looks like the next couple days should be pretty ducky.

Nice hunt! I might sit on the bay tomorrow despite the lack of birds.

Good story. And a good lesson. I've had so much success in so called "bad" weather.
