Abitibi Conditions and Water Level
Trying to figure out if i can squeeze in an early hard water trip in to Abitibi (Was thinking mid December) but am hesitant to drive 7 hours only to find unsafe ice. The Latest Modis Imagery that is not obscured by cloud is from November 26th and shows that it is definitely frozen over:

Wondering if anyone has been in that neck of the woods lately and has any first hand info on what conditions are with respect to water level and ice thickness.
Thanks

So no replies on level or ice conditions. Did manage to find a real time source for lake level here:
https://www.h2opower.com/wp-content/...eTwinGraph.pdf
Today's Level:

Shows today's level at+/- 265.05 masl. Which is almost perfect as my charts are based on a lake level of 265 masl.
Been monitoring the temps and forecast in that area and i am 95% sure the ice is fishable. May take the chance next week and go in blind with my spud bar and float suit. Temp right now this afternoon is -12 with -20s in the forecast next few days.

I live about 100km due south of Abitibi as the crow flies. Just this past Saturday it was +5º C and raining most of the day. It has chilled down since then, but I'm sure no where near enough to make ice I would want to try and walk on. The north end of Lake Timiskaming is still open water. Just my 2¢.

Thanks. Satellite shows full ice cover since Nov 26th. Wish i had boots on the ground. I do know Abitibi freezes over a lot faster than many other lakes in the area as its average depth is only 10 feet. I think i am gonna try find a # for a bait seller in the area and give them a call. They would likely know
Edit to add - found a bait shop in Iroquois Falls - left them a message inquiring about bait and ice conditions. Hopefully they call back.

Looking good. Latest Satellite image:

Gonna wait until the week of the 19th based on feedback from Delmer. Currently -15 with a bunch of -20 in the forecast and been iced over since Nov 26th.
