    Default Black phase cottontail?

So have had cottontails in the backyard forever. Today caught a glimpse of a strange looking bunny. Before I could get a camera it ducked under the wood pile. Looks to be a black phase cottontail. Thing is never seen or heard of one. Is it possible? Have the camera out for its next appearance.

Definitely possible, I once read an article on a black phase snowshoe hare. Lots of animals go through this. I’ve seen a yote and a wild turkey all black.

Could it be an escaped pet? At one time I had 2 different colors of domestic rabbits in my yard escaped from a nearby outdoor pen at the neighbor's.

Anything is posible. Won't know until I get it in my hands. From the glimpse I got had more of a wild profile than domestic.

There was snow on the ground. It was probably late fall, but we were shooting fully white hares except for that one.

Could be a wild rabbit with some domestic rabbit in it’s genes.
They say the only good wolf is a dead wolf, If that’s the case than I’ve reformed many a wolf.
