I believe that if the Liberals were to push these changes through they will get decimated in the next general election. They would be upsetting way to many law abiding Canadians and are also crossing swords with the Aboriginal peoples across the country. If they want to commit political suicide this would their own assisted death.

Do they need votes to get back in?

    Need less of it.
They waste hours a day bickering back and fourth like kindergartens. Like that's getting the job done. .

If only that were true. Math doesn't support that. Only 7% of voting Canadians hold a PAL. Of those most of them already vote conservative so those votes were never liberal in the first place and hence can't be lost. At most it may make a difference of 1 or 2% in the popular vote among gun owning people like yourself who in the past have historically voted liberal.

Liberal voting PAL holders are too small a group for them to worry about - even if every one jumps ship and votes conservative.

As for the First Nation vote it historically is largely NDP and as a result is also a non-issue where the numbers are concerned.

Why is Raquel mentioning the ban on sks will affect aboriginal sustenance use? I thought aboriginals were completely exempt under section 35 hunting rights. I thought the list of 1500+ banned firearms does not apply to them?

    Well that's good news.
