    what's your favourite/preferred drill bit for stainless steel?

    I use the HSS bits, set the drill speed to slow and press hard. A high speed setting will burn the drill bits.

    a step drill bit. Matco sells them and im sure others do too. Not cheap tho!

    any quality bit should be fine, but slow speed, lots of pressure and cutting oil

    If it's hard enough you might have to go to a carbide drill bit. I recall having to use them to tap some gun actions.
