Ice fishing with a flasher
https://oodmag.com/ice-fishing-with-a-flasher/
As someone who grew up in the modern age of ice fishing, I could not imagine hitting the ice without a flasher or some form of sonar.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

I went many years without one but now I feel abandoned without it when the battery dies. On my second unit now, I will drive home for it but for some reason I always drive back for the auger never the finder lol.

Depending on the species of fish and depth I am fishing for, a flasher is a game changer. Simcoe for perch, not so much, but Quinte for walleye is a must. How folks did it back in the day without one is impressive.
Species8472, a respected member on this forum does not use one. I personally am not in his caliber and need all the help I can get. Kudos to folks that fish on instinct and knowledge.

Yep, A simple flasher is all we need but watching videos of the Garmin live scope is impressive but very expensive

Haha. Thanks for the shoutout. Personally I like to fish with people that keep their clothes on. #noflashers.
Looking forward to our Nip trip. Hopefully your faith is justified.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

I picked up a striker 4 last spring and will be using it this winter. It'll be my first time fishing with a flasher.

My fish finder has a built in flasher but I never use use… prefer the classic view of the sonar. I have an underwater camera that I’m dying to try out. Good Lord, how did I ever manage to catch fish before the advent of tech?
