Hunting the end of cover
https://oodmag.com/hunting-the-end-of-cover/
In some cover hiding is easy, but I learned long ago that the end of the cover is where many make-or-break moments happen.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

back in the day when there were wild pheasants, my dad and I hunted this place that had a fence role that ended halfway up a field. we'd hunt the area where the fence role started and then always head up the fence line. We had a good dog at the time and we always put up birds right at the end of the fence line. They'd hang tight until the very end of the line then bust out. It was always a lot of fun having all these pheasant flush at the same time.
