Just imagine if the federal government used the Millions of dollars, they will be spending to steal our guns from us law abiding Canadians to actually fight gun smuggling.

It's really sad that the majority of Canadians don't see the big picture and think JT knows what he is doing!

We are sending 200 more vehicles to be blown up. Our involvement has been training Ukraine since 2015 they were already woken up. As the rest of the world Saudi ,turkey and Egypt are planning to join the brics nations along with a few others.

Just more billions dollars up in smoke in recent weeks. 400 million in air defense while 0 dollars for our broken health care system lol.. no calls for peace talks just give them everything while we ourselves fall apart.

Can't the Olympics and sport shooters just use a pellet gun lol.

The government doesn't even acknowledge these people as I pointed out in the bye bye semi thread.

This is a simplistic argument. That you can’t have one without the other.

That somehow the issues with our health care is somehow related to the conflict in Ukraine or our spending on national defense.

Last year we spend 12% of GDP on healthcare.

We spend about 1.5% on National Defense.

Do you think if we cut our National Defense spend to zero and moved the $ to health care all our problems would go away.

We can have a solid health care and National defense and an environment etc.

It is not 1 or the other.

I better question is why do we spend 1/10 of our total spend and don’t feel we’re getting a good healthcare system.

We only spent the 12% because of the pandemic.
Since they have taken office it's only gone down hill. With it no better than 3 years ago.
Don't think our donations are part of the military budgets just more tax dollars. Also Didn't think we were in a war? We should of ramped up our military long ago .

About the sport shooters do they have a voice. ? What about the people who just like to plink at a range for an afternoon?

Maybe we need the big retail players to normalise things again.
I would personally like to see us make a few more armoured cars for are own military.

I've been in the TAPV which was purchased to replace our aging fleet of Coyotes. After several extra years of revisions and design changes the breaks still catch on fire.

Our government has no interest in developing anything on the military side unless we can make 400% more than we need and then sell it all off the Saudi Arabia at a loss somehow.

The year before the pandemic health spending was 11.5% of GDP so at best you can argue the government spent one percent more because of the pandemic.

Not sure what your questions are.

Are we currently in a war? No

And I’m not debating the effectiveness of the gun band. I was just replying to your comment, which I always hear, we should spend more on healthcare.

But nobody ever says we should raise taxes to spend more on healthcare, or we should spend less on the on the following items in order to spend more on healthcare.

We already spent one of every ten dollar on healthcare.

How much more money do you think we should dedicated to healthcare?

Should we spent 25% of our entire GDP on healthcare?

As a reference, in 2019 in Finland, Sweden and Norway, where people argue they have a fantastic universal healthcare system, they spent 9% of their GDP on health care.

They also spend more as a percent of GDP on national defense.

Maybe spending more money on the health care system isn’t the answer.

Me too, but I think the priority should be where folks are dying daily.

Ya, I agree, but we need to spend some money to bulk up our military, things aren’t looking good with Russia or China.
