Default Why We Need The Public To Be Better Educated About Firearms

Woman whose cousin died after he was shot by a beanbag gun says, “Beanbag guns need to be declared firearms or a lethal weapon." Canadian Press - [COLOR=var(--neutral-foreground-rest)]Family of man who died after Vancouver police beanbag shooting seeks inquest

No kidding, all a beanbag gun is a shotgun adapted for easy recognition to be used in police work, with ammunition designed to shoot beanbags. The beanbags are simply light birdshot enveloped in a special bag to contain it, and fire a lower velocity. The gun is already classed a firearm, that when used on a person makes it a weapon. From this article, it's pretty clear, why there is a call for more gun control ever time there is a shooting. It's a problem, that results from a basic public ignorance about firearms.

I don't think the public will ever change their perception of firearms in a positive way, that we firearm owners would like. In fact, it will get worse. One just has to look at the way society has changed during the last 100 yrs, it's not going to do a complete about face in our favour.

Perhaps, but it’s still worth trying.

I didn’t see or read article?
Unfortunately, firearms classification awareness aside, the public only sees a dead person caused by a firearm.

As long as there's a liberal-leftist partisan press, positive firearm ownership information will always be suppressed. Long ago, they learned that to control an agenda, first, you must control the message. That over-riding principle they adhere to is right out of Karl Marx's "The Communist Manifesto". It's been the mainstay of every oppressive regime ever since.

I can't say i have read the entire Marx manifesto but i have certainly skimmed it. My take is that Marx makes the observation that those in power use the media to control narratives. He is right about that but can't say i ever read anywhere that he thought that was okay or advocated adhering to that principle - could be wrong but i have yet to come across that.

Our liberal leftists actually have very little in common with Karl Marx. For the record i have little use for Marx or the liberals but Marx was 100% against elites which is in stark contrast to today's liberals. And also for the record Marx was all for guns in the hands of the common people. This is a quote that in recent years has been attributed to Reagan but was actually made by Marx in 1850:

"Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary"

Education alone is insufficient to address firearms-related issues, and more stringent gun control laws are insufficient to reduce gun violence effectively. Guys, education should be left just to law enforcement agencies. Moreover, I read the book "More Guns, Less Crime" by John R. Lott Jr. and would analyze it. I took out the trash! "Spam deleted" .I found experts who helped me write my literature review for me so I could better understand the message and themes. Education may change society's mind in a day. Still, I suppose what can influence us today is undoubtedly such a high-quality service of writing that provides reliable information.

I personally think more public involvement needs to be done.

The media was using it a few years ago said ,they were tired of treating gun shot victims. They don't explain that the majority are smuggled firearms so banning the handgun in Canada would not improve their situation by any significance.

Just more misleading information from our own government.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ? Doesn't the public get enough education about firearms by watching all those "shoot em up, bang, bang" movies ?
