First Nations cut out of caribou management
https://oodmag.com/first-nations-cut...ou-management/
First Nations have called on the province to withdraw a request for bidders for the development of a management plan for threatened caribou.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

This comment can't be further from the truth!
"The First Nations believe their expertise and conservation ethic are being snubbed by the proposal and have called the approach insulting".

The decline also had a lot to do with the fact that people watched and allowed a pack of wolves to get on one of these islands and destroy the herd in a manner of years. First thing the MNR should have done is gone in and shot the pack of wolves. As to the natives people being upset at not having a large say in how they are managed, they may have a point, but also it would probably help if the chiefs would crack down on the constant poaching and disregard for conservation that is aloud to happen by their people.
They say the only good wolf is a dead wolf, If that’s the case than I’ve reformed many a wolf.

It quite amusing how native's leadership follows the woke victim-mentality culture trends of the day.
Considering multiple bids is a standard acquisition method by any government or large Corp..
Does it lengthen/delay the overall process? - absolutely, however wouldn't everyone complain about "accountability" if those acquisitions were made without it?

So why not put in a bid themselves? A hand up would be better then a handout.
