Deer Tags

Ok refresh my understanding of the tag process , I don t want to hunt does this year so I buy a Deer Tag , that entiles me to harvest a buck anywhere in Ontario with any open season excluding the control hunts is this correct ? ,also what will my tag say or will it be on my summary .? Also if I decide to hunt the control hunt do I automatically get a doe tag ? . Thanks

Your deer tag will be for antlered deer in any WMU, unless you apply for and get a doe tag. Controlled hunts are different, in that your controlled validation if you are successful will indicate antlered, antlerless or either or, regardless of what your deer tag indicates.

Even if you did apply for a doe tag (in the regular draw) and got one you could still use it for bucks in any WMU. Good to have if you find yourself at the end of the season with an empty freezer and a nice doe in front of your stand. Just my 0.02
