Moose tag with zero points

Is it possible or has anyone got a moose tag with zero points. Like in the very northern wmu’s ?

Welcome to the forum. I can't say it would never happen,but,I think you have a better chance of winning Lotto Max two draws in a row.

Yes welcome. If you apply in one of the real high northern zones you can get a tag as they are sometimes not claimed and there are surplus tags. The problem with those zones are they have very limited vehicle access. If you fly in you would be good to go.

I was looking at the chart showing how many points where required for last year in the different areas and noticed the very remote ones showed zero so thought I would ask. I have been up to the 1c area ( not for hunting). Backpacking and yes it’s very remote.
Maybe I will apply see what happens, worst case I end up with 1 point lol.

I have received 2 tags last 2 season using zero points, cow and a calf.
Still have 6 points for my bull tag this fall. The book will show you all the areas this is possible and for gun or bow
There are no surplus tags anymore, hasn't been since the new systems came into effect.

I asked the MNRF that very question and yes I got it in writing you can get a tag with 0 points

It is very clear and laid out in the new regulations which tags could have been drawn the previous year with 0 points. It will only happen when the number of tags exceed the number of people applying with greater than 0 points though. Our group drew a tag with zero points this past season.
