Thread: Anybody start baiting for Spring bear yet?

    We are planning to start baiting on May 06th in WMU 40. Then one trip to re-bait on May 13th. We will start to hunt on May 20th. It doesn't take long for the bears to find our established bait sites.

    Quite a bit early yet. Still 2 1/2 feet of snow in 55B. Hopefully the next couple of weeks takes care of that.

    Waiting until May, last year went early not much happened until mid May. Hunted in June lots of action.

    Probably get mine out a week before opener.

    Our barrels got filled last weekend, nothing but racoons on camera so far. I imagine there won't be any action for a couple of weeks based on last year.

    Baits are set in WMU 40. Can't wait for the cell cam pics...

    We had our first visitor right at last light last night in WMU53. a really good sized boar with a back the same height as the 45gal drum

    Just had our first as well in 53, looks like the cub that hung around all last year made it through the winter. Going to have to raise the barrel a bit more I guess.
