There isn’t anything to reference the size.
The paws look to be too small.

The poster said the picture was taken in their back yard, must have been a slow day in the news room.

"The picture was captured on a game camera in my back yard. The picture was snapped at 10:49 a.m. I was in the house and my cellular game camera caught it," he said.

To me, the tail seems to be to short to be a cougar?

My vote is a house cat as well. Tail looks short, paws look too small and the original poster could easily snap another picture of something in the same spot to verify it's size.

The temp on the camera reads at 31F which should make the snow fairly soft,yet,the cat's paws are on top of the snow as opposed to sinking in it. The general shape of the cat doesn't look like a mountain lion. I'm not saying it is,but,the image looks photoshopped.

The snow we had left as of last weekend in the Pembroke area - a couple of feet of it - even the deer were walking on top of it. BTW 31F is below freezing, so it shouldn't make the snow "soft".
