Quiet morning

Question for turkey hunters
To put it mildly the weather in Muskoka was rotten this morning.Left the house at 5:00 it was pouring rain by the time I arrived at my spot it was snowing by first lite the ground was covered and snowed or rain most of the morning.My question is would this weather shut the turkeys down.Scouted yesterday and turkeys were gobbling and had 2 toms walked right by me this morning dead quiet.What do the experts out there think.

Not an expert!! But in my experiences windy rainy days makes for quiet birds. I’ve had toms/Jake’s pop up out of no where on poor weather days. That being said, I’ve also been out in a thunderstorm before and the thunder caused them to gobble.

I'm no expert either. Yes , crappy weather can make them go quiet as it may affect them hearing/seeing danger and not just other turkeys but they still must eat and procreate. Using decoys may help as a visual attractant ? Calling but not a lot (30 minute intervals?), just enough to let them get your location ? Stay well hidden and motionless and pack an extra portion of patience in your vest and wait them out. I would not advise sitting out in a thunder/lightening storm holding a steel pipe while sitting out under a tree that's where "When thunder roars head indoors" is a good idea ! Mind you getting back out there after the storm has past (wait at least 15 minutes as lightening could still happen) because the birds will want to too !

I'm no expert either but my experience has taught me that you can never predict these birds I've taken them in near blizzards as has happened 3 years ago with my grandson and have had them shut down during cold gloomy days like last years opener seen and heard nothing then 3 days days later warmed a bit and took a nice tom which one me last years turkey contest
