    Default Do you tip your Laker spoon with a minnow?

    I used to but for almost 30 years I haven't. Do same or better without and save having to catch/buy/deal with minnows.

    I don't ever put anything on spoons. My thoughts are that it ruins the spoon action. If you want to use bait, use some sort of inline spinner instead. An "erie-dearie" or "walleye wonder" or similar, or something like a worm harness with larger hooks to hold the minnow.

    I also use a 3' mono leader to improve action.

    I only tip my spoons with minnows while ice fishing

    I usually cut a shiner in two and jig with half of it.
    In the winter my second line is always with a plain minnow.
