    Default Red River Manitoba catfish

    Has anyone ever been? We are heading out in a few weeks and have a morning booked with one of the catfish guides.
    Gonna be a blast!

    For the 180 who viewed my above post I can now provide a report!
    Booked a 4hr trip with a local Red River guide in Selkirk Man.
    Tackle was Shimano Currado baitcasters and 10' downrigger rods. 80lb braid line, 4oz sliding weight, 7/0 circle hook (barbless by law Manitoba wide) and a slice of Goldeye for bait rounded out the tackle.
    Electrically anchored in 36' of water we had 4 lines fanned out behind the boat and set into rod holders.
    It didn't take long and the first of 11 32"+ fish had the rod tip pulled 4 feet underwater, man for a cat they sure are bulldogs.
    Great time and a great guide. I highly reccommend it if you are Winnipeg way.
    I have heard that both Saugeen and Trent River below dam 1 have nice cats but this is truly a world class fishery.

    I will try one as a test. traditionally my pictures come out sideways for some reason.if you see that this has come out sideways please DM. Me your email and I will send some to you if youwould be kind enough to post them for me please.
    Edit.well look at that it come out the proper way. Just starting my shift and I will Post some more later.
