Yup, that's because our health system/doctors still aren't 100% up to speed on what to look for and how to start the cure. One of my family got it a long time ago, didn't have the red bullseye and the Doc kept poopooing the request for other tests available like in the US. He finally found a Doc in Toronto doing the in depth tests and yes it confirmed he had it. Problem is that as time goes by, it becomes harder and harder to kill the parasites in the body. To say the least he went through hell and back and never fully recovered. I wouldn't hesitate a second to recommend going south of the border to get fixed.

My son had a deer tick on him about a month ago - pulled it off - a couple days later he got real bad flu like systems - went to the doc and they determined it wasn't the flu so put him on Doxycycline - he sent the tick away for testing and sure enough it came back positive - when we have a imbedded tick we send it away for testing and until we get results the doc prescribes an antibiotic - one of my granddaughters who lives in Virginia got bit by a Lone Star tick and ended up with a real bad allergy when she eats red meat - so she can't eat any pork - beef - lamb - no diary or cheese - better spray your clothes with permethrin and check yourself when you've been outdoors

I got two ticks on me last year, first time since I have lived in Ontario for 34 years. When I called the Doctor they said they would call in and I just went in and picked it up. Only one pill.
I am going to get them to give me a prescription again and one for my son so we can have two pills on hand.

You can get on Amazon and order a spray that contains permethrin - you spray your clothes before using - once dried the clothes will protect you for up to 6 weeks - when ticks climb on you and contact the sprayed clothes it kills them - that's what I do

Maybe in your country Joe.
Permethrin products in the form of liquids or sprays for consumers to treat their own clothing are not approved for use in Canada.

Permethrin is permitted for insect control or animal use and is readily available at most feed stores or on-line. It can't be marketed as a spray for clothing but what you do with it when you get home is your business.

Long Point in Norfolk County, Ontario is Ground Zero for Lyme Disease and so far I've been very lucky and never got it as I always found them early and pulled them off. Recently at my doctor I told him of encounters with the little buggers and he offered the "pill" right away, a one time dose of antibiotic but I declined. Supposedly they are now doing testing in Ontario for Lyme Disease as our labs were not set up for it before and all tests had to be sent to the U.S. labs.
