without a doubt i would have shot it as well.
i dont have any experience with mountain lions, but my instinct would tell me that if i did some how scare it away it would not have run away but retreated and come back to stalk while i would be trying to get out of that trail or forest. secondly that mountain lion looks MASSIVE not sure if its just the video or not but jesus chirst i would need a new pair of clothes. 100% would have prob peed myself lol. THIRDLY taking out my phone? PROBOBLY NOT LOL

share your thoughts! what would you do ?

If he had the presence of mind to film the incident and not shoot right away I do not believe he was panicked or even afraid for his life. I think I would have fired off at least one shot to try and scare the animal away. It actually looks like a smaller juvenile animal and is not looking aggresive to me but more curious.

Looks like "Curiosity killed the cat". I didn't see any aggessive attitude there. No snarl, ears aren't layed back, wasn't stalking its prey. I'm thinking a little more aggressive stance on the part of the guy and that cat would of bolted away. Me would of popped a couple shots at the ground infront then if still approaching empty the clip.

One of my kids watched a Mountain Lion stalk and kill a fawn in Jasper when they were on a camping trip. They said the speed of the kill was simply astounding. A park ranger told them that Mountain Lions attack in two ways, either,by stalking and killing their prey from behind or waiting in a tree and dropping down on their target. Either way,the prey doesn't know what hit them. If it was me,I would have shot the lion, too, only quicker. Once a lion jumps pounces, you wouldn't have time to get a shot off. It's always better to deal with repercussions, later.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

LOL if a man cant get a shot off holding a semi auto glock in his hands maybe he should not have one in his hands.
