SKS accessories suggestions
Hello,
Anyone has good recommendations for SKS rifle accessories suggestions. Yes, I've read them online and considered the following.
- ATI SKS Strikeforce TactLite Stock w/ Scorpion Recoil System or FAB Defense M4 SKS SB System w/ Shock Absorbing M4 tube and buttstock?
- Scope Mount Picatinny Rail - have it. great for scope system setup.
- muzzle break?
The reason: I've been diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, anything hard on my body will incur a large amount of pain and I'm out for a while (weeks) without being able to do anything without pain. I want to be able to enjoy hunting so I've opted one of my rifles to a recoil system out of all I have; .270 kicks like a mule, .22 good for plinking, shotgun 12 gauge on hold, mosin nagant and svt on hold.
I do not want to miss my hunting season this year. Thanks for your input.
Cheers.

If you want less recoil a traditional black powder rifle can be turned into a soft shooter by lowering the charge.

Not a response to your original query - however, in deference to your situation - you may also wish to consider something such as .243 Win?
Hope you get better soon.

We have a fellow in our hunt gang that took a nice big doe with his SKS a few years back. The only suggestion I might make is changing your front sight from the standard metal blue front sight to a colour plastic one. Makes a big difference in quick sighting situations and low light.
I would bother with any of the other modifications personally.
If you are interested in getting one send me a pm and I can let you know where to get one.

You can get a clamp on muzzle break, I have never shot one with it installed so I am mot sure how effective it is.
I find the wood stock to be most comfortable and convenient, plus the extra bit of weight helps keep recoil down.
In terms of a rail that you can get an optic onto, the version that sits in the rear sight pocket and then runs all the way to the back where it is secured via the takedown pin is best. Mine is very solid and has returned to zero after reinstalling it post cleaning. Hopefully this is the style you got, if you bought a different one I'd like to know how you find it.
You can get all manner of slip on recoil pads that have a nice big thick cushion in them. I suspect that would work better in the end then a 'system' developed for aftermarket support. But I could be very wrong.
Heavy guns suck to carry around but weight kills recoil. So you'll have to figure out which one sucks more.
Also rub essential oils all over the gun, it will help with your knee pain.
