18 to 20' Fishing Boat Recommendation

Hey,

I'm shopping for a new 18 to 20' deep V only, no other activity, fishing boat for trout, white fish, salmon and walleye. Mostly Simcoe and Muskoka type lakes, some GB and lake Ontario but not very often.

Any brand and model recommendations?

I can say from my experience on Lake Ontario anything less than 16' with an open bow is risky, 20' covered bow is OK. Get two bilge pumps and have at least one of them on a float switch.

Sounds like you’d likely be doing a good deal of trolling on some bigger water (Simcoe, Lake Ontario & Georgian Bay)…..you might wish to consider a kicker in the interest of both keeping hours off your main motor and as a backup.

Alot of used Cuddy cabins on sale right now for good prices, I expect them to fall even lower in coming months.

as others said, covered bow, and kicker are a must.
I use anchors to slow down my main motor, since I cant install a kicker on my current boat, and that just sucks. both in terms of running the main engine at idle speeds for hours[condensation in carb], and of course adding hours on it.

I wouldnt go anything below 20' for the great lakes, even simcoe can get choppy FAST.

One more vote for the Starcraft Fishmaster. There's a 19 footer and a 21 footer, either one would be ideal.
