Look for Raffia grass at hobby stores, great stuff, comes in colours and wears like iron. They also carry fake leafs ? You may want to make two suits, one greenish the other brownish ?

i love my ghillie suit. works well for waterfowl, turkey and not so much for deer or dogs. anything with a nose smells mine.

Paid 40$ for my ghillie suit 12 year ago and still using it to great affect. Taken a whack of deer during bow season with it and few bear from the climber as well.
