Default Ban on 'assault-style' firearms pushed back two more years

It seems that the guns the feds were so eager to get banned, don't pose such a threat after all. The amnesty has been extended for two more years. Coincidently, the extension runs to Oct 30, 2025 and the next federal election has to be held by Oct 20, 2025, giving the current government an out of having to spend around $1 billion on something controversial.

Since when have the Liberals cared about wasting taxpayer dollars on anything? This clearly exposes (to anyone this side of brain dead) the "ban/confiscation" as purely political, having nothing to do with public safety whatsoever. They always need a wedge issue for any election and have used their invented firearms issues many times to garner votes from the ill-informed masses.

The worst part of this is the legitimate gun shops are holding millions of dollars of handgun inventory they can't sell or transfer back to the manufacturers.
    Excess Inventory is wasted money.

Actual estimates are closer to $6Billion and expected to climb making the entire concept unpalatable even to the most sycophantic Liberal supporter save the wingnuts at Ecole Polytech. Should the Liberals form the next government with a majority, look for them to issue a blanket seizure order without compensation.

They should admit the ban is a sham as pets have killed more Canadians than the big bad ugly ar 15 they demonized so much. Use the money for something good like enforcing the law and actual punishments for gun related crimes. This gun ban is like putting speed bumps on the rd because people were driving to fast . Don't enforce the law or anything just put an obstacle on it lol.

Since the weapons are still out there are they not causing mayham on our streets?

Or was it just another illusion spread by misinformation

Banned but not confiscated the streets are so much safer haha. I feel much safer now just like diversity is our strength as they step up police presence put out a local police memo and the schools send out a letters to ensure the safety of our children lol. Rolled eyes lol.

I've seen the Fraser Institute reports on Gary Mauser's study but haven't been able to find the original work. Without seeing a line-by-line accounting of how he got to $6.7 billion I am suspect of the number. His lower estimate of $2.4 billion is probably closer to the mark.

A blanket seizure without compensation is unlikely. Courts would be expected to rule against it. Were it possible it would have been done already and included handguns too.

Where's the money coming from let's not forget Canada has been broke for a long time. Even our latest job report Almost 2 thirds or about is paid by the tax payers . 51% of millennials are living paycheck to paycheck more an more are loosing their homes before most have even felt the Rath to come.

Fish, the above sounds way too close to reality for anyone dressed in Liberal red to comprehend or believe….

Liberals Still Haven't Extended Their Confiscation Deadline

To echo my update last Friday:
As of 16:45 Ottawa time today, nothing indicates the Liberals extended their gun-confiscation deadline (the crackdown initiated in May 2020).
The only public info we have is their October 11 statement that the deadline "will be extended" to October 2025.

I read the comments from the CSSA where they're saying that "Trudeau hasn't the courage of his convictions" for not following through on confiscation. WTH is the matter with those guys? Now,they're complaining because the government is slowly realizing the entire plan was a disaster from the get-go? CSSA and the NFA need to give their heads a shake. That situation will never improve. Eventually, the Liberals will be compelled to admit they screwed up and cancel the whole thing. I'm not sure how long it will take, but,it's going to happen whether they like it or not. They might as well cut to the chase and stick a fork in it. They're DONE.
