Coyote pelt tearing
My coyote pelt is about 15 years old, it is dried out and the leather is starting to tear in places. Is there any way to prevent this?

probably acid rot, maybe the hide wasn't neutralized adequately during the tanning process

Good idea, but I dont shoot them anymore. Early in my hunting life I did mostly because I was not seeing deer, but now my hunting time has decreased due to work schedules I choose to continue hunting when I see one and let it pass so I can focus on filling the freezer.

I never give one a pass, as if I seen a coyote than not going to see deer. So I thin the pack and resume deer hunting the next opportunity.
