Sometimes, a camp along a road is all you need. I’ve got nothing against spike camps, they are a lot of work to set though if you want to be comfortable. Sometimes you have to do that if you want to go where the animals are and where other hunters aren’t.

Traditionally a spike camp is a temporary or secondary campsite accessible from a main camp. However, for many a spike camp just refers to a small, portable campsite that hunters set up in the backcountry.
