From all the comments, timing may just be a local thing. One of our crew was out at first light this AM and arrowed a Coyote. So far,it's all he's seen.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

I like morning hunts better than evening hunts by far, with that said, I go when I can

Our group at Burks Falls have taken 80% in the PM, including our two this year. That being said my group on Manitoulin Island is just the opposite

I’ve shot 54 deer in my life in a variety of places in Canada and US. I would say 45 of those deer have come in the morning and 3/4 of those deer were within 30min either side of 9am. Have never shot a deer at first lite and only a handful at dusk. 10am til 2pm has been good to me during peak rut over the years too

Well, looks like I cannot fight sleeping in anymore.
General consensus - AM has a slight edge with more sightings/ harvest

This year I saw 4 bucks on Monday morning. Actually I won't even saw morning.

    First one 7am

    Second one 9am

    Third one 10am

    Fourth one was at 1130am.

I don't think it matters much for them. I think it's more where you catch them walking.

In the mornings they'll usually be heading back to their bedding areas.

Evenings they're usually heading from their bedding areas to feeding areas.

But hey I'm not a deer. Who the hell knows what these animals do. You have no idea how surprised I was to see a buck every hour and a half on Monday. By far the biggest buck I seen was the one who popped out at 1130am.and I onky seen its face and antlers in the distance.

So either they were really late going back to bed or they were just rubbing their trees, that's why it's called hunting I guess !
