That's quite unfortunate.
If it helps, he still has some 20ga Federal Trophy Copper 3in sabots. It's an alternative we use (for Savage 220 only).
Admittedly, I do not have any experience with that ammo in any other firearm other than the Savage. Groups between 1 to 2.5 inch at 100m. At least, that has been my personal experience with three different 20ga Savage 220s.
Doesn't print tight groups as 3in Rem Accutips but certainly close enough for field work. Couple weeks back, friend of mine took a 10-pt buck at 105 yards using Trophy Copper even though he was a bit skeptical switching from Rem Accutips due to unavailability
