Buck only tag

So my son and i only have buck tags this year. We applied for controlled hunt and received our validations. It states antlered or anterless on controlled hunt. On the bottom it also says refer to your tag for validation which is only buck. I looked on site and it states you can only harvest whatever it says on tag EXCEPT if your controlled validation tag says otherwise. I've alway gone by my tag. Anterless or antlered because thats the tag you put on harvested deer. I've been wrong for decades i think. Apparently i can shoot both if it states that on my controlled hunt validation tag. Is this correct?

You are correct. You go by what is on the controlled hunt validation for the WMU you applied to if successful.
