Maybe last day of Squirrel this year
well went out this morning, stopped at the farmers houses on way to visit another landowner who is a residence now. Stopped at 4 spots and got 3. Had my visit and stopped at 3 of the spots again. One spot is just a lot with trees, no squirrels 1st stop, but on way back saw 3 running around at the back, so pulled in, got gun out. While doing that Sam put a squirrel up beside the truck, I couldn't find it, hiding to well I guess. went to the back and put one up but it was jumping so much, I couldn't get a bead on it and it got into a hole. Stopped where I got the 2 greys and saw one in the evergreens got it. I should have had another as got 2 at another property where they are doing all the damage in a cedar hedge where there are no holes. I shot 1 and was watching the other run alone the tops of the cedars. I left the one I had shot. while I was following the other Sam decided I forgot the other one so went back and got it and brought it to me, where the farmers dog decide it would like squirrel too so grabbed it from my hand. While trying to keep it away from farmers dog the other squirrel disappeared. Oh while 4 better than none. This could be my last outing for squirrel, but there still 2 days left so you never know. Sam did a great job again on retrieving them. Today I brought the cannon with me, what a difference the 12ga makes. A lot further distance and dropped them on the spot. I haven't cleaned them yet so don't know how much damage. I was using trap load and shot for the head on all. I was going to put my turkey choke in so would have a tighter pattern, but I would have to resight so put that choke back.

nice bunch of squirrels there. As far as damage 71/2 out of a .410 is the same as a 12g. Only consideration is density of pattern. Good thing you didn't go with the turkey choke.

"Good job Sam!" Tell him that if there are 2 days left you want to go out at least 1 more time.
