Anti hunters buying out grizzly outfits
https://www.raincoast.org/trophy-hunt/
Permanent end to commercial trophy hunting
Raincoast controls the commercial hunting rights in five tenures, more than 38,000 km2 of the BC coast – an area larger than Vancouver Island or the entire country of Belgium.

Wow, their ambitions and donation goals are astronomical. Makes PETA look like small fry .. It'll be a sad state when previously public hunting lands go under private ownership or control that bans or may ban hunting. Hope they contribute to the BC tax base & don't complain about predator problems later !

They didn't buy the land, just hunting guide rights.

Lots of problems with this. It's just advocates using the system. From their own words.
"In an effort to inspire others to take action for the animal inhabitants of the BC coast, Raincoast staff regularly write opinion editorial pieces for mainstream newspapers."
They have their own lab resources they have used government officials boosted on their website short lived until the government switched and reversed the actions.
They do it the same way as another group I have mentioned has done it.
Now imagine the worlds most powerful doing the exact same thing.
They even have an elite working on matching donations.
They been at it 25 year . Wait till there around 50 years like the other group.
They also said they manged the Salmon numbers to naturally feed the bears.

Donations, government's , indigenous leaders and ngo's as partners that's how.
Or some of their words in the about us section. The last sentence states what you need to know. Lol "informed advocacy " .
"Raincoast is a team of conservationists and scientists empowered by our research to protect the lands, waters and wildlife of coastal British Columbia. We use rigorous, peer-reviewed science and community engagement to further our conservation objectives. We call this approach informed advocacy. As a charitable, non-profit conservation science organization that operates a research lab, field station and a research/sailing vessel, we are unique in Canada.
Since 1990, Raincoast has been making progress toward our habitat and wildlife protection goals. Our on-the-ground presence has given us a deep-rooted understanding of BC’s vast coastline. We work in partnership with scientists, First Nations, local communities and NGOs to build support for decisions that protect marine and rainforest habitat on BC’s coast."

Admittedly I know little about bear hunting but apparently there are some ethics issues around the palatability and meat retrieval laws on Coastal Bears. Is anyone able to comment on the legalities in BC?
