    Default 2024 lake simcoe ice

Well we finally got some decent cold. This morning Port bolster to Beaverton was mostly frozen. Larger amounts of open water were down near Holmes point. Lots of open holes all throughout. It's definitely moving around.

Vb had a skim as well just before 10 this morning alot of fishing grounds had ice, by 11 vb had a lot more open water from the winds.

Hopefully tonight will help lock in some areas to start building the ice. I'm sure now everything looks totally different . Will be back at the water to see the change before dark. Maybe we will get a clearish satellite image but it wasn't available yet for today.

I will keep this running for the next few weeks as the ice forms and get testing certain areas.

    Stay safe everyone.

Port bolster ice stayed . Still large open areas but the majority is all ice . It should completely seal what is there since the weather is a little more favorable than last night.

Still open out past goergina to thore

Thanks for the update. One of these days gonna try hardwater on Simcoe. Would love to get on a big perch bite. Just hard to get around to when i have a comfy place on Nip.

You should come up in March for the jumbos and whitties.
Haven't fished nip since I was a we boy . Must of been over 30 years . I usually hit a lake before then to try for the whitties prefer them over the wallys. Thinking about heading there next week north. But you do need to clean them right and take the mudine out.

Cooks bay from roaches point south toward the bottom bay has stayed. Tested an area and there was a few inches to fish that's in my comfort zone. Not going to give a measurement as it was just a guesstimate. Didn't cut a clean hole nor did I have a tape. .

Saw 2 portable shacks a few hundred yards off rayners and another guy off the pump house.

Vb has sealed across, yesterday still had a large slush water spot near the main access point . Threw a small block of ice the size of a golf ball and it plopped right into the lake.

Port bolster that's all still there and looks like someone placed a tree marker out there didn't see anyone. There were lots of open holes in the area 2 days ago.

Will post an accurate measurement tomorrow from a clean cut hole tomorrow for Cooks. .

North of roaches to sibalds is all open water.

    Stay safe .

So I won't be drilling holes on cooks Bay tomorrow.

Instead I'll be driving to lindsay as an unsatisfied online customer lol. Just spent 2 hours working on getting a license it won't. I'm supposed to call customer service I'll drive there instead. Maybe it's my fault but I never get a license untill I go fishing. Before online I went the bait shop the morning of or Canadian tire the evening before those options are no longer available. Online has been ok in the past as I always get it the night before . My only fishing day this week ended before it began .

As for the tree in Port bolster they usually use it a a marker. It was an operator testing the ice and posted 4 inchesto the tree. It's probably thinner past it and that was just a straight line out

    Stay safe everyone
I'm going to drill some test holes in vb when I get back.

Seems like a lot of trouble for no reason. Once every three years pop into Bass pro and purchase my outdoors card, 3 year small game and 3 year sports fishing. Good thing doing it that way is that you can use bass pro gift cards to purchase the licenses. In the mail comes the card in a couple of weeks eliminating the need to keep separate pieces of paper. Only have to go in the spring to buy my turkey tags.
Time in the outdoors is never wasted

Just make sure you start the 3 year cycle when the card expires

Yeah the card expired on Dec 31 . Maybe that was the problem as I do recall having another issue a few years backs.. It wouldn't connect to my email or the card number nor would it sent me an email recovery code to access my account.

Good to go for 3 years. First time in 23 years buying the 3 year always just did it yearly. As a bonus picked up 30 pounds of lean ground beef from the wholesale store lol. Was a good deal at 3.49 a pound for PC members plus another additional 30% off. A 45$ tube was 24 bucks so grabbed 2 more.

Will cut some test holes in vb around 230
    Pm .
