Garmin Alpha 200 / TT15X Tracking System
Having a Garmin Alpha 200 dog tracking system brought up from the states. What I've read here and other places is while "not approved" due to MURS frequency restrictions, the system works just fine in Ontario.
My question for other Alpha system owners is what sort of effective range on the track and train features are you getting? I hunt rabbits with my beagle in somewhat densely wooded areas. Some places have some topography others are flat.
Do the training functions work as long as the GPS has reception?
Any tips or tricks in maximizing range and use of the handheld interface?
Stoked to receive mine and start running the hound again. Had an Astro 900 for a year and ran our daily ecollar with it and found that training range was far less than needed so decided to upgrade to the Alpha.
Cheers

I'm with ya, the season can't start soon eI can't say enough good things about thate same range or battery life as the radio tracking systems. I used Wildlife tracking systems for twenty years, then upgraded to alpha unitsme point.

Can't speak for the Alpha 200 but I just recently got the TT15X collar with a Pro 550+ handheld. I was out testing it with my gf on the weekend and everything was working perfectly at a little over 1km in thick boreal forest. Didn't feel the need to go any further cause I don't plan on my (future) bird dog getting that far out. I believe the Alpha is also rated for like 2-3 times the distance of the 550+ so I would think you'd get some good range out of it

LMAO there is no way I could get her to be on the collar end of things haha I made the smart decision of giving her the handheld and I made sure the stim was working! Pretty soon I'll have a pup to replace her in the field... Picking her up this weekend

Definitely the right girlfriend for a gundog man.
Enjoy that pup. Post a pic if you are able to.

la façon la plus facile c'est sur amazon.com. ils le livreront au Canada et se chargent des douanes aussi. sinon certains retailers les vendront au Canada mais pas certains des gros. Tu peux ausi te l'envoyer à la frontière et aller le chercher.
