Refinished a rifle stock
I just refinished the stock and forend on my Winchester model 150 lever action .22. After stripping off the old finish, I applied some Minn Wax Provincial stain the put 8 coats of Tru-Oil over it. Turned out pretty good.

I swear by MinWax products. I've used it for furniture refinishing and woodwork trim for many years. I've never thought of it for using on gun stocks. It sounds like an excellent idea. I have a Remington 700 BDL Custom with some stock damage I've intended to refinish. If you can post pics,I'd like to see them.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

Nothing looks better than a nicely finished, non-glossy BDL!
Good luck if you decide to do it!
Failing that, I have a very nice BDL stock I'd let you have cheap.

Thanks KC. It's a .270Win (long action) I might take you up on that if I screw it up which is quite possible being a rank amateur.
