I just applied but since I had a tag last year so it’s a 4-year wait until the next one.

I just realized that you don’t receive any points for the year you receive a tag.

I have to say I think I preferred the old system better. Getting a tag seemed to be easier for us as a group. Also I believe I heard there’s a bonus out there now to all those who failed to play the game before and apply every year - instead of losing their points like it used to be instead ex-game players are coming out of the woodwork with lots of points now to scoop up the tags. Top this off with the interesting tidbit from the OFAH AGM on how 40 years ago when the tag system was introduced by the ministry it was promised to majorly increase the moose population by now. Not an impressive track record!

For sure, big groups like the old system. Because it was biased to big groups. Now that its fair for everyone why would they like it. For me and my small group at least I'll possibly get a tag before I'm too old.

Only 4? I have been waiting 3 years and assume I have another 5-6 to go

Its because he obviously hunts a wmu with more tags, so less points required, Our area we can draw a bull tag with 3 points possible second draw, or 2 if we switch areas to the one beside it. It is all in the regs how many points it took to draw the previous season in the wmu.
